Easily accessible by seaplane, this is where Sydney’s elite come to play. On land, it’s all about golfing, hiking and fine dining. Take to the water and the word exploring takes on a whole new meaning.

Surfers and playful children converge on the 2 km stretch of Palm Beach, with rolling waves attracting surfers at the northern end and the ocean pool drawing families to the southern end.

Boating enthusiasts can launch their vessels on the calm waters of Pittwater. Day trippers can travel to Coasters Retreat, Great Mackerel Beach, Ettalong or Patonga by ferry or private vessel.

Sitting at the tip of the peninsula is Barrenjoey Headland – part of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Walking trails lead up to the iconic Barrenjoey Lighthouse and lightkeeper cottages. The sandstone boulders attract rock climbers – after their exertions they can take to the waters to cool off.

Palm Beach is a neighbourhood with an unbeatable outdoor lifestyle that has a way of drawing you in.

PALM BEACH

Framed by lush greenery and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Palm Beach is renowned for being both the setting of TV series, Home and Away and a sandy stretch that has great surfing waves at one end and a calmer ocean pool at the other.

BARRENJOEY HEAD

Forming part of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Barrenjoey Head is at the tip of the peninsula. It has heart-thumping steep paths leading to a working lighthouse, which is one of the best places to spot whales during migration season.

PITTWATER

The best way to experience this natural playground is by boat. Cruise the waters or catch a ferry across to popular picnic and camping spots – Ettalong, Patonga, Coasters Retreat or Great Mackerel Beach.

WATER SPORTS

There are plenty of ways to enjoy the water – dive, paddle or surf to name just three. Don’t have your own equipment? Not a problem, there are plenty of places where you can hire equipment for the day.

WINE & DINE

Palm Beach has its fair share of dining options. The Boathouse and Barrenjoey House are popular places to linger for a while with friends.
